Operation Good Samaritan Impact

COVID-19 has disrupted many lives across our community. Hardworking people lost their jobs either to furlough or lay offs. Families began struggling, some for the first time in a very long time, to afford their rent, utilities, and car payments. This is exactly why The Sharing Center stepped forward and launched Operation Good Samaritan. The community needed The Sharing Center more than ever. The annual Good Samaritan Luncheon was converted into a five-week fundraising campaign calling to our community to support our neighbors impacted by the Coronavirus pandemic. So many answered!

Over the course of five weeks, supporters from near and far, helped raise funds that can help 510 families receive emergency rent assistance, 17,000 bags of groceries, or help fill 2,040 carts of groceries for a family of four. It is nothing short of a blessing to have so many generous and compassionate people who care for each other, especially during these extraordinary times.

We are filled with gratitude for each of the over 1,200 donors who made a contribution; we especially thank: Bank of America, Florida Blue, and AdventHealth for stepping in to support our matching gift efforts on #GivingTuesdayNow helping to raise $50,000 in one day!
