AdventHealth Invests Impactful Gift to The Sharing Center’s Expansion
LONGWOOD, FL (July 11, 2021 )– AdventHealth has invested an impactful $200,000 gift to support The Sharing Center’s mission to prevent hunger and homelessness. This funding will help double the number of people The Sharing Center can serve through the newly expanded respite center for the homeless, the Oasis and the Navigation Hub.
“At AdventHealth we invest our resources back into providing vital services to our community,” said Tim Cook, CEO of AdventHealth Altamonte Springs and the Seminole County Market. “We are honored to support the expansion of the AdventHealth’s Navigation Hub, which will allow the Sharing Center to further provide critical services to those in need. This is how we carry out our mission to extend the healing ministry of Christ outside the walls of our hospital.”
Originally created in 2011, The Oasis is a respite center that has tripled in size with the new renovations. Now in a 3,600-sq.-ft. space, The Oasis will offer services to double the number of homeless individuals and families – or approximately 4,118 individuals – per year who require services every day. It will help provide approximately 15,882 services for those individuals. This new space now holds:
● a state-of-the-art multi-purpose training center,
● double the number of personal shower rooms,
● double the number of industrial washer and dryer sets, and
● additional space for dedicated case managers and partner offices
“AdventHealth’s partnership is key as we work to continue to meet the ever-growing need,” said Nina Yon, President & CEO of The Sharing Center. “This support has expanded AdventHealth’s Navigation Hub in our new space. The navigation hub is the beginning of respite and restoration for those in our community that are currently experiencing hunger and homelessness. It is a place where the journey to stability can begin.”
