Written by: Gail Bittman, The Sharing Center’s Board Secretary
The W.A.I.T., Women’s Amateur Invitational Tennis, C League consists of over 550 members and 30 teams who play tennis on Tuesdays in Central Florida. For the ladies of the W.A.I.T. C League, in addition to playing tennis on Tuesdays, it is important to make a difference in their surrounding Orange and Seminole County communities.
From February 15th to March 4th, the W.A.I.T. C League held a food drive to collect non-perishable items and financial donations for the non-profit organizations of The Sharing Center, Salvation Army, and Hope Helps. The members of the W.A.I.T. C League raised $7,120 in gift cards and checks plus donated over 3,200 food items to help to fill the food pantries of all three non-profit organizations.
The Sharing Center received $2,380.00 in checks and gift cards along with 1,090 food items. To all of the W.A.I.T. C League’s 550 members, 30 teams, and everyone else involved in their food drive, thank you for your generosity and compassion for our neighbors in need.
