The Young Leadership Associate Board of The Sharing Center Hosts the 3rd Annual Poverty Summit: Empowering Our Community by Addressing Mental Health and Poverty Together
SANFORD, FL – July 1, 2024 – The Sharing Center is proud to announce its upcoming event, “Poverty Summit: Empowering Our Community by addressing Mental Health and Poverty Together,” scheduled for July 25, 2024, from 8:15 AM to 11:30 AM at The Atrium at Heathrow, Seminole State College, 1055 AAA Drive, Heathrow, FL 32746. This event aims to bring together experts and community leaders to address the critical intersection of mental health and poverty. In addition to the insightful discussions, the event will provide a platform for attendees to network and share their experiences. A Q&A session at the end of the program will further encourage this exchange of ideas.
Sheriff Dennis M. Lemma, the distinguished keynote speaker, will share his insights on community engagement and mental health initiatives. Sheriff Lemma, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and graduate of the FBI National Academy, focuses on innovative law enforcement strategies and addressing the opioid crisis. Panelists include Sam Beckman, LMHC, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor at The Sharing Center who provides compassionate care and therapeutic services to those experiencing financial hardship and homelessness; Shampa Davie, LMHC, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor at Impower who specializes in telehealth services and holistic mental health approaches; and Sky Larabee, LMHC, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with Aspire, who employs an integrative therapeutic approach combining Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-Informed Care, and Mindfulness-Based Strategies. Their unique expertise will provide attendees valuable insights and strategies to address mental health and poverty in their communities. Emily McLeod, a seasoned TV reporter with WESH 2 News in Orlando, will moderate the event.
The event will include a comprehensive discussion on the impact of mental health on poverty and vice versa and provide attendees with valuable knowledge and resources to address these issues in their communities. The complimentary breakfast will allow attendees to network and discuss the topics more informally, fostering a sense of community and shared learning. A Q&A session at the end of the program will allow for deeper engagement with the speakers, encouraging active participation and the exchange of ideas.
