After relapse and heartbreak, Tish turned to The Sharing Center for a new beginning

Starting over at rock bottom

When Tish left her 33-year marriage and moved to Florida, she brought with her decades of heartache—and the hope of healing. But the road forward wasn’t easy. Not long after arriving, she experienced a relapse in her recovery and struggled to rebuild her life from the ground up.

“I moved here with nothing but a suitcase and my dog,” she said. “I didn’t know anyone. I didn’t have anything. I didn’t even have a car. I just knew I had to start over.”

That’s when she found The Sharing Center.

A helping hand, a compassionate heart

Tish first came for food, but quickly discovered much more than nourishment. Through The Sharing Center’s wraparound services, she received clothing, transportation assistance, and mental health counseling.

“The day I walked through those doors, I was met with nothing but kindness,” Tish shared. “They helped me get back into recovery, into therapy, and connected me to resources I didn’t even know existed.”

What stood out most was the way she was treated—with dignity, care, and no judgment.

“They didn’t look at me like I was broken,” she said. “They looked at me like someone worth helping.”

Healing, growing, and giving back

Now, Tish is more grounded in her recovery, housed, employed, and focused on helping others who may be walking the same path she once did. She speaks with a deep sense of purpose and gratitude, reflecting on how her life has changed.

“I know now that I didn’t come here by accident,” she said. “This was part of the journey. And if I can use what I’ve been through to help someone else, then it was all worth it.”

She credits The Sharing Center not only with helping her meet basic needs, but with supporting her emotional and spiritual growth.

“It wasn’t just food or clothes,” Tish said. “It was the encouragement. The support. The love. That’s what made the biggest difference.”
