The Sharing Center has announced the receipt of a $10,000 award from Publix Super Market Charities to help their Hunger Relief program. The Sharing Center, located at 600 N Hwy 17/92 in Longwood, FL, is a nonprofit agency that provides resources and services for homeless and at-risk-for-homelessness households. The Sharing Center, operating Seminole County’s largest free food pantry, has been providing basic needs help for food and clothing, case management, and emergency financial assistance for over 33 years. The Sharing Center also operates Seminole County’s only homeless-drop in center for hot showers, free haircuts, laundry services, and case management for stabilization and housing assistance.
Publix Super Market Charities is well known for its philanthropic local support of its community service agencies. As a food retailer, Publix’s greatest opportunity to give back is by helping to alleviate hunger. That’s why Publix has donated millions of pounds of food to local food banks and why our associates have worked countless volunteer hours with these organizations over the years. It is also why Publix was named an inaugural Feeding America Visionary Partner in 2015.
