Volunteers: Here's Something For You

If you like being surrounded by pretty things, you'll love working in our special Boutique at our Longwood Thrift Store. Volunteer cashiers and helpers needed Mon.-Sat. 9:15-1 pm and also on Saturdays 1-5 pm. One-on-one training. Cash register very user friendly. Cashier helpers do not work the register but assist by bagging items and assisting shoppers in other ways.

Our Sanford site needs volunteers in the food pantry 9 am- noon Mon.-Fri.

Help Stock Our Pantry At No Extra Cost

Every night children here in Seminole County go to bed hungry. Won't you help? Watch for Buy One / Get One deals and you can help without paying even one extra cent at checkout! With so many children and their families struggling today, The Sharing Center always has a critical need for some basic items. Right now, these items most needed include:

- Peanut Butter for kids' lunches
- Jelly or Jam for kids' peanut butter sandwiches
- Cereal of any kind
- Powdered Milk to put on the cereal
- Mac 'n Cheese
- Canned Tuna
- Canned Soups
- Shampoo
- Deodorant

Our walk-in cooler and freezer love to be filled with fresh vegetables, fruits, dairy products!

Drop off food donations Mon.-Fri. between 9 am and 4:30 pm at either of our food pantries:

Longwood site: 600 N. US Hwy. 17-92 (in Fairmont Plaza, about 1 mile N of Hwy. 434)
Sanford site: 515 E. 25th Street

Can You Help With a Box Truck?

The Sharing Center needs a new 14-foot box truck to replace the one we use to pick up donations of furniture. Offering nice furniture at great prices is a main reason why our thrift store is able to raise about one-fifth of our income to help people in need. Unfortunately, most donors have no way of getting their furniture to us. As our old truck has begun feeling its age, it is essential that we find a new one to continue getting these valuable donations.

Awarded Disney Grant

Disney Honors Sharing Center for "Helping Kids Shine" - Disney has sprinkled some magic on The Sharing Center with a "Helping Kids Shine" grant! The award for $19,000 will help start a Summer Nutrition Program providing sound lunches for schoolchildren. Said Angie Romagosa, President/CEO of The Sharing Center: "This will enable us to fill the tummies of little ones who can't succeed at their schoolwork because they are hungry." The Sharing Center's lunch bag program debuting at close of school will ensure 200 children who receive free or reduced-price lunches during the school year that they will have something to eat during the 52 days of summer vacation.

We surprised Disney Prize Patrol member Shelby Curry with a gift after she surprised us with a $19,000 "Helping Kids Shine" grant. Don Blackadar, vice president of our board, and President Angie Romagosa presented Shelby with a souvenir copy of our 25th anniversary book filled with inspirational stories and comments from people we've helped over the years. The book was signed by staff and board members present for the magical award moment.
